More Employment Success: April 2025

Welcome to the 2nd Industrial Workforce Program (IWP) Newsletter! We're excited to share updates on program progress, the success of our graduates, and news about upcoming happenings and opportunities!

AUTOMOTIVE PROGRAM

Celebrating Auto Success

From January to March, our second cohort worked to master the fundamentals of auto servicing - and are already having success moving into the next phase of their careers.

All graduates are now gainfully employed, with one, a veteran of the United States Army, continuing automotive training at WyoTech in Laramie, WY.

Graduate Spotlight: Lacey

Lacey discovered IWP through social media while employed at McDonald's. With a passion for hands-on work, she enrolled in our 6-week automotive program, and excelled in her training. Today, she's building her career at Champion Ford Dealership in Gallup.

“I would recommend this class to anyone wanting to expand their knowledge in the automotive industry. The instructors were very knowledgeable in their fields and took the time and patience with us as a group.”
- Lacey L.

INMATE PROGRAM

Heavy Equipment Training at Correctional Facility

We recently completed specialized Heavy Equipment training at a correctional facility in Las Cruces. Participants earned 2 NCCER credentials, building marketable skills for their return to the workforce.

CONSTRUCTION PROGRAM

Another Cohort Incoming!

Tomorrow, nine more students will graduate from our construction program! Meanwhile, four graduates from previous cohorts have secured employment, and one has entered a pre-engineering program at NTU.

Dan McConnel, owner of Gallup Portable Storage and Transport LLC, recently hired his second IWP graduate, and shared:

"The personal input and recommendations I received from SWIF is exactly what I needed for my employee search."

Employers, if you’re looking for skilled tradespeople ready to contribute to your team, contact us to ask about our graduating construction cohort.

Graduate Spotlight: Tia

After finding an IWP brochure while employed at a Gallup restaurant, Tia took a chance on changing careers. Now, she has graduated from our construction program and is pursuing specialized education in Welding.

“This course was welcoming to all ages, and to females, and I learned a lot that will help in my future employment. I definitely recommend this course to others who want to dip their toes into a field like this, since it gives you the experience and the knowledge to see what you're getting yourself into.” -Tia H.
