Cohorts are filled on a rolling basis. Once you fill out the application form below, we will contact you about the soonest available cohort, interviews, and processes you must complete to be accepted into the program.

How many programs
do you run each year?
We currently hold three classes a year for the construction program, and two classes a year for the automotive program. We hope to expand in future years to feature more cohorts and different trades training.
When are the programs?

Construction program:
January to April
May to August

We are running Automotive training seasonally:

How long is each
program?
The construction program lasts 12-weeks, and the automotive program lasts approximately 6 weeks.
How many people are
in each class?
10-15 for the construction program, and up to 8 for the automotive program.
Who can join?
Anyone age 18-45 in the Gallup, NM area, or any resident of NM.
This includes all of McKinley County, the Four Corners region counties, the Navajo Nation, the Hopi Nation, the Pueblo of Zuni, the Pueblo of Acoma, and the Pueblo of Laguna.
Is the program free?
We work to find funding for you. Many applicants will be eligible for free access to the program through funding from the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). If you are not eligible for funding through WIOA, you will be considered for funding through the Southwest Indian Foundation Scholarship Fund or another partner funding source.
Those who are not eligible for free access can pay $12,500 to join the Construction program, and $8,500 to join the Automotive program.
Where do the classes
take place?
Classroom instruction and job-site training takes place at the SWIF warehouse in Gallup, and on SWIF construction sites.
