Join the Auto Program this spring

Cohorts are filled on a rolling basis. Once you fill out the application form below, we will contact you about the soonest available cohort, interviews, and processes you must complete to be accepted into the program.

How the application works

There are two application windows for the May Cohort. Window 1 is first come, first served. Window 2 is competitive and only used if seats are still open.

Window 1: Applying before 3/25/26

To get a priority spot, you must complete all steps by the deadlines below:

  1. Complete the form below
  2. Interview with IWP
  3. Complete orientation by 3/25/2026
  4. Complete an Intake interview by 4/16/2026
  5. Complete some follow-on steps
    May include aptitude testing and other requirements based on your intake.
  6. Drug screening — Must be completed before Must be completed before May 18

Why apply in Window 1?

  • Seats are filled in order of completed steps
  • You lock in your spot sooner
  • You may qualify for a stipend (if eligible)

Window 2: Applying After 3/25/26

Starts after 3/25/2026. Only used to fill any remaining seats. To be considered, you must:

  1. Complete interview + drug screening‍
  2. Complete Economic Transition Program state funding paperwork

What to know about Window 2

  • Seats are competitive
  • Only fills leftover spots
  • Maybe will qualify for a stipend (if eligible)

Required documents (for 1st interview)

  • Driver’s License or State ID
  • Social Security Card
  • Birth Certificate
  • Selective Service registration (males born after Jan 1, 1960; must have registered by age 26)
  • Proof of New Mexico residency
  • Proof of household income (past 6 months)
  • SNAP/TANF award letter (if provided, past 6 months income docs not required)

How to Apply

Process

To get a priority spot, you must complete all steps as quickly as possible:

  1. Complete the form below
  2. Your IWP Case worker will reach out to schedule an interview
  3. Complete Interview with IWP
  4. Complete Orientation w/ American Job Center (scheduled by IWP)
  5. From there your acceptance and cohort placement will be assessed and determined
